Choomalaka Festival

A capacity crowd of 1 000 gathered on Friday September 10 2021 for the inaugural Choomalaka Festival.

Families were immersed in the spirit of St Virgil's - through sound, light, colour and movement. Entertainment included performances from the stage and concert bands, Junior School bands, choirs, solo artists, light and movement installations, and a series of drama productions. The Edmund Rice Hall was adorned with breathtaking artwork to delight guests of all ages.

The Boomalaka Bar proved popular, with the VET Hospitality and Coffee, Cafe and Catering teams serving delicious Oreo, salted caramel and neapolitan milkshakes, and hot beverages. What a learning experience for the students, who showed grit and persistence to meet demand. Kangaroo, venison and marinated chicken sliders, and hot sausages straight off the barbecues were savoured by the hungry crowd.

Thank you to the staff and students who spent countless hours preparing for and performing at this magnificent event. We are looking forward to see what the event holds in 2022!
